Mykonos

The Greek island of Mykonos is on the rise! With many people already claiming this island is the new Ibiza, it had just become time that we checked it out. The island, with its beautiful beaches, hills with stunning views and typically Greek white-with-blue houses, definitely has a lot to offer for both the day and night time.

Start your day at beach when they are still quiet and enjoy the unspoiled view of the tranquil ocean. Lia and Agios Sostis are amongst the lesser crowded beaches, while Agrari and Elia are more popular and offer watersports and taverns as well. Wherever you decide to go, the cold but beautiful turquoise water is perfect for a refreshing morning swim to start your day right.

Afterwards you might decide to stroll around Mykonos town and get lost in the beautiful maze of white and blue streets. There are plenty of shops that sell high-end brands and have a selection of gorgeous holiday style clothes and accessories. Don’t forget to stop for some for ice cream or crepes along your way. When you start to feel hungry around lunch time, try Bakalo for the best traditional Greek food. This cute restaurant in the heart of the town will exceed all your expectations of a traditional Greek tavern!

To witness the most beautiful view of the island, head to Armenistis Lighthouse on top of the hill before the sun sets. You can get there by car and a small hike to enjoy a stunning 180 degree view of the ocean and surrounding islands while seeing the big orange sun sink away. Head back into town afterwards to enjoy the best dinner at Interni restaurant. The food here is exquisite and the garden area which is beautifully lighted is just the perfect setting to enjoy your meal.

Or decide to spend your day at one of the many beach bars on the island. Places to relax on the sunbeds, located immediately on the water, and to have a bite in their restaurant. Go to Alemagou if you like to try traditional Greek food with a modern twist or if you’re looking for a daytime party on Wednesdays and Fridays. Go to Scorpios for the best Mediterranean food, especially their fresh fish, but you might want to stay away from the somewhat disappointing cocktails. However, this bar really knows how to turn up the party between the hours of 21oo and 1oo.

For the real night owls amongst us, you can continue the party at Void in Mykonos town. An indoor club that brings the best DJs to the island. But to finish it off in real Mykonos style, you then continue the afterparty in one of the villas up in the hills, where you’ll be dancing under the stars, next to pool, with a view of all the little lights of the island lighting up the dark.
