Situated on the eastern shore of italy’s lake como, ‘il sereno’ is a luxury five star destination that is set to open in the summer of 2016. Conceived by milan-based designer patricia urquiola, the all-suite hotel will have 30 spacious rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the waterfront and the neighboring alps. the development also includes a private beach, an infinity pool, and private transfers via the hotel’s two custom-made riva boats.
lush gardens surrounding the hotel have been developed by botanist patrick blanc, while london-based restaurateur giuliano lotto will operate the hotel’s indoor-outdoor restaurant. guests are also able to relax at the full-service spa, situated under original arches dating back centuries.
moving away from the faux renaissance and neoclassical style associated with the region, urquiola’s contemporary design results in a relaxed, peaceful sanctuary for guests that draws inspiration from lake como’s culture, lifestyle, and history. the building is largely made from natural materials, with wood, stone, and fabric creating a warm yet current aesthetic. suites at ‘il sereno’ start from €800 per night.
