With 93 properties in India and many throughout Asia Taj Hotels changes its path
Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has long been known as a symbol of Indian hospitality, with 93 hotels in India alone, including legendary establishments like the Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur. Taj also operates beyond India with 16 properties in the Maldives, Malaysia, Australia, UK, USA, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Africa and the Middle East. Recently Taj Hotels announced a new focus for its expansion strategy with 17 new hotels planned for India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
Forbes reports that a new management team is “changing its path.” These properties include three in Dubai, Mumbai airport (early 2016), Bangalore airport (early 2016), and Meghauli Serai in Nepal’s Chitwan National Park. As quoted by Forbes, Chief Revenue Officer Chinmai Sharma cites India’s fast growing middle class, who are traveling more and more, as the reason why the regional and home market is “ripe for expansion.” Taj is opening more Jiva spas in its hotels, while also building its loyalty program.
